Ice in the heart of Ladispoli

Throughout the holiday season, Piazza Rossellini, the main square of Ladispoli in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital (Lazio), takes on a new look. At the center of the urban space, the large Ice Park skating rink is set up, surrounded by festive lights, wooden huts, and a charming winter village. It has become one of the most anticipated events on the coast north of Rome, attracting families not only from Ladispoli but also from Cerveteri, Santa Marinella, and Civitavecchia.

A state-of-the-art rink

The rink is built using cutting-edge, energy-efficient technology with reduced freon usage—a choice that ensures high-quality ice even during the milder days of the Lazio coastal climate. In the 2025-2026 winter edition, the surface was significantly expanded compared to previous years, occupying most of the square and becoming one of the largest seasonal rinks in the area.

More than just skating

Surrounding the ice rink is a full entertainment program that repeats throughout the season along the 'Viale Incantato' (Enchanted Avenue) and on the ice itself:

• Street art and street performers among the village lights
• Gospel choir performances and roving flash mobs
• Dancing giants and dance shows
• Magic shows with Fred il Magoliere
• Befana Show for the closing of the festivities
• Bolle di Luce (Bubbles of Light), an evening show beloved by children

On-site, there is a refreshment area and a bar where you can enjoy a warm drink—hot chocolate is practically a ritual—while children's entertainment enlivens weekend afternoons.

Lessons and first steps on the ice

The Ice Park is not just for free skating: individual lessons are held in the morning, while group lessons are organized in the afternoon for those who want to learn or perfect their technique. This format is designed for absolute beginners, including children, who can approach the ice safely with the help of instructors. The facility also hosts ice-skating birthday parties.

A regional circuit

Ice Park manages a circuit of ice villages in the Lazio region, with installations in Rome, Ladispoli, and Guidonia. The Ladispoli stop is the one that integrates most seamlessly with city life, as the square is pedestrianized, overlooks the porticos, and is just a short walk from the seafront. The result is an atmosphere quite different from large indoor facilities: you skate outdoors, in the evening, under the Christmas lights.

When to go

The season traditionally opens around the Immaculate Conception holiday in early December and continues well past Epiphany; in the 2025-2026 edition, the rink remained open until February 1, 2026. The most evocative moments are weekday evenings, when the square is less crowded, and December weekends, when the village is animated by shows. Those arriving with small children should aim for the early afternoon.
