Sunset concerts on Lake Fogliano, within the Circeo National Park
I Salotti Musicali - Summer Festival is the summer branch of a series that has been a cornerstone of the cultural life in Latina, Lazio, for over ten years. While the winter "salotti" (salons) are held in intimate indoor city venues, the summer festival moves outdoors to the Borgo di Villa Fogliano: a historic cluster of buildings overlooking the coastal lake of Fogliano, located within the boundaries of the Circeo National Park. It is a setting that completely transforms the concert experience, as the music mingles with the reflection on the water, the flight of aquatic birds, and the light slowly fading over the lagoon.
The festival's hallmark is its intimate scale. There are no massive stages or crowds; events are designed for a limited audience, with capped seating and highly recommended reservations. Evenings begin in the late afternoon, as the heat of the Pontine plain eases, and continue with the Sunset Aperitivo Concert format: guests listen while seated, enjoying a glass of wine and a light aperitif as the sun dips behind the dunes that separate the lake from the sea.
The artistic direction, led by the Eleomai Cultural Association under Alfredo Romano, has always rejected the label of a single-theme festival. Over the years, the lineup has spanned:
This openness has allowed the festival to host prominent names from the Italian scene and build a loyal audience that follows the festival not for a specific artist, but for the quality of the listening experience.
The Borgo di Villa Fogliano is more than just a backdrop. The complex includes the 19th-century neo-Gothic villa commissioned by the Caetani family, a botanical garden with exotic species introduced in the 1800s, and the village's rural buildings. Lake Fogliano is part of the Pontine coastal lake system and is one of the most ornithologically significant areas in Lazio: attending a concert here means stepping, for one evening, into one of the most delicate wetlands on the Tyrrhenian coast.
The festival is part of the Latina Estate program, through which the Municipality of Latina enlivens the months of July and August across the city center, the coast, and the villages of the Agro Pontino. In a young city founded in the 1930s, I Salotti Musicali represents one of the few musical events with long-term continuity, helping to showcase Villa Fogliano to visitors from outside the province.
This festival is perfect for those seeking attentive listening rather than a mass event: jazz enthusiasts, couples, families with older children, and visitors looking to combine a musical evening with a nature walk in the Circeo National Park. Reservations are almost always necessary, as evenings regularly sell out days in advance.
For the 2026 edition, the Eleomai Cultural Association, directed by Alfredo Romano, concentrates the Summer Festival into two events at the Borgo di Villa Fogliano, in the municipality of Latina and within the Circeo National Park. The formula is that of the Sunset Aperitivo Concert: live music, a glass of wine by the lake, and the light fading over the Pontine lagoon.
The opening on Saturday, July 25, is entrusted to a duo combining double bass, vocals, and piano, with a repertoire that weaves together jazz standards, original compositions, and Brazilian sounds, alongside Sicilian and Italian songs reinterpreted with a jazz sensibility. The closing on Friday, July 31, brings a quartet to the lake with a show specifically designed for the lakeside setting.
Seating is limited and evenings tend to sell out in advance: online presale is active on Ciaotickets, while the festival infoline is available for information and reservations.
Arabella Rustico (double bass and vocals) and Domenico Sanna (piano) — Borgo di Villa Fogliano. A duo project traversing jazz standards, original compositions, Brazilian music, and Sicilian and Italian songs, reinterpreted with a jazz sensibility.
Quartetto Sharareh in "Meets Lake Lights" — Borgo di Villa Fogliano. Sunset Aperitivo Concert with live music overlooking the waters of Lake Fogliano.
Both evenings take place at the Borgo di Villa Fogliano, Latina. Limited seating, reservations recommended.
Borgo di Villa Fogliano, Strada Lungomare, in the municipality of Latina (LT), within the Circeo National Park.
Limited seating: reservations are highly recommended. Online presale via Ciaotickets. For information and phone bookings, call +39 338 4874115.
Evenings take place outdoors in a lakeside area: it is useful to bring mosquito repellent and a light sweater for the second part of the evening. Arriving before the start allows you to enjoy the sunset over the lake and visit the village.
