Three days of meetings, cinema, and theatre to reflect on power and rights
The Human Rights Festival is one of Italy's most important events for discussing themes of dignity, justice, and fundamental freedoms. It takes place in Milan, at Parco Center, via Ambrogio Binda 30 (Municipality 6), and each year proposes a theme that critically and knowledgeably addresses current events.
The 2026 edition is the eleventh and is titled "Who's in Charge?". A question that the festival explores on multiple levels: the power of digital platforms, economic power, the power exercised through elections and algorithms. It's an invitation to recognize and discuss the often-invisible ways power operates in our societies. This edition also marks the first collaboration between the Human Rights Foundation and the Gariwo Foundation.
The program alternates moments of in-depth discussion, screenings, and performances. The first day is dedicated to sport and justice, featuring a training course on discriminatory language, the exhibition The Righteous in Sport, and the theatrical performance The Sports Memorizer. The second day addresses autism and finance, with the documentary Blu. The Colour of Autism and a discussion on economic power. The third focuses on elections and algorithms, with the analysis The 10 Votes That Shook the World and the final performance by the Coro Amici della Nave, composed of inmates.
A significant part of the festival is reserved for high schools: mornings host workshops and meetings on topics such as security, rights, and dissent, designed to engage new generations. With its blend of documentary rigor, testimonies, and artistic languages, the Human Rights Festival confirms Milan as a space for open and high-quality civil reflection. Entry is free, subject to availability.
