About Human Pride

Every June, Human Pride Taranto takes to the streets with a vibrant, inclusive parade that unites the demands of the LGBTQIA+ community with those of women, migrants, workers, people with disabilities, and environmental advocates. Born from a collective of local associations, it is both a street festival and a political demonstration: music, slogans, celebrity godparents, and a human chain winding through the old and new city center, in a Taranto caught between health, labor, and civil rights issues.

An intersectional, community-driven Pride

Human Pride Taranto is the annual event that fills the streets of the Ionian capital every June with a colorful, musical, and fiercely political parade. Unlike a traditional Pride, Human Pride is built on a declared intersectional foundation: alongside LGBTQIA+ rights, the march champions the causes of women, migrants, workers, and people with disabilities, while addressing environmental and health concernsโ€”issues deeply felt in a city like Taranto, which struggles with the delicate balance between industry and the right to a healthy environment.

Origins and the Collective

The event is promoted by the Human Pride Taranto Collective, established in February 2024 by several local associations with the goal of creating an event that unites all battles for civil rights and social inclusion under one banner. Dozens of local associations, unions, and cultural groups join the parade each year, and the event is supported by the Municipality of Taranto, the Puglia Region, CSV Taranto ETS, and other local institutions.

The Parade and Street Festival

The heart of the event is the parade: a long human chain led by a float and special guests, winding through the city center with music, banners, flash mobs, and speeches. The event also features moments for discussion, cultural activities, and awareness-raising campaigns on health and rights. Each edition carries specific themes and dedications, from victims of war to local social injustices, making Human Pride not just a parade, but a moment of collective reflection.

Taranto: Sea, Old Town, and Rights

The event takes place in the municipality of Taranto, in the province of Taranto, Puglia, crossing the iconic landmarks of the City of Two Seas: from the famous Swing Bridge (Ponte Girevole) to the bridges connecting the old town island to the mainland, and the central squares. In just a few years, Human Pride has established itself as one of the most attended events of the Taranto summer, transforming the streets of the Ionian capital into a space of visibility, celebration, and advocacy open to everyone.

Human Pride โ€” edition 2026

The third edition of Human Pride Taranto took place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, gathering at 5:30 PM in the square in front of the Arsenal Entrance on Via Di Palma, with the parade starting at 6:00 PM. Special guest godmother Vladimir Luxuria opened the event from the float. The parade, dedicated to the memory of farm worker Bakari Sako and the victims of wars, crossed the city center to demand rights and inclusion.

Human Pride Taranto 2026 โ€” Third Edition

The third edition of Human Pride Taranto was held on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The gathering was set for 5:30 PM in the square in front of the Arsenal Entrance on Via Di Palma, with the parade starting at 6:00 PM following an opening flash mob.

The godmother of this edition was Vladimir Luxuria, who led the parade from the float, energizing the event. The route crossed the city center, concluding on Via Mercato Nuovo with a commemorative stop in Piazza Fontana. The parade, promoted by the Human Pride Taranto Collective and supported by over forty associations, unions, and cultural groups, was dedicated to the memory of Bakari Sako, a Malian farm worker who was killed, and to the victims in Gaza and all wars.

Key themes included: rights for LGBTQIA+ individuals, women, migrants, workers, and people with disabilities, environmental protection, and the complex link between health and labor that defines the city of Taranto. The event received the patronage of the Municipality of Taranto and the Puglia Region.
