The great Lucanian wine signed Merano WineFestival in Venosa
Gusto Nobile Basilicata is the event that brings the prestige and quality of the Merano WineFestival, one of Italy's most important wine events, to Venosa. Inspired by the philosophy of Carpe Diem by Horace, the poet born in Venosa, the festival celebrates great Lucanian wine and local cuisine in a setting of absolute charm.
The event opens with the Small Plates Dinner in Piazza Orazio, a large convivial dinner that brings together the best Venosa restaurateurs around a shared table, with traditional Lucanian dishes paired with local wines. On the following two days, the Aragonese Castle hosts tastings, show cooking, and the renowned WineHunter masterclasses, led by experts from the Merano WineFestival.
The heart of the program are the masterclasses dedicated to Aglianico del Vulture: from comparisons between Riserva and current vintage to vertical tastings, up to the most innovative expressions of Lucanian viticulture, where tradition and experimentation meet. In Piazza Umberto I, the Coldiretti Village market offers typical local products, from Senise Crusco Pepper to regional specialties.
Among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, Venosa offers Gusto Nobile an extraordinary backdrop, between the Castle, the Abbey of the Santissima Trinità , and the sites related to Horace. An event that elevates Lucanian wine on the national stage, uniting it with the history and beauty of the city.
The first edition of Gusto Nobile Basilicata by Merano WineFestival is scheduled in Venosa from May 8 to 10, 2026. Three days inspired by Horace's Carpe Diem, uniting great Lucanian wine and local cuisine, with the Aragonese Castle and Piazza Orazio as main settings.
The absolute star is Aglianico del Vulture, presented in the WineHunter masterclasses curated by Merano WineFestival.
