GustiAmo Via Italia Nuova has become a staple of the Veglie summer. Every August, Via Italia Nuova in Veglie, located in the Salento region (Province of Lecce, Puglia), turns into a large open-air lounge where people eat, drink, dance, and stroll past shop windows. The event was born in 2023 through a collaboration between the Pro Loco Veglie APS and local businesses, with the patronage of the Municipality of Veglie, and has since grown into one of the most anticipated moments of the town's summer calendar.

Salento flavors on the street

The heart of the event is great food. Along Via Italia Nuova, stalls and stations are set up to serve grilled meats, fragrant pizzas, sandwiches, traditional Salento first courses, fresh seasonal fruit, and artisanal drinks. Every evening is an opportunity to rediscover the genuine flavors of local cuisine in an informal, family-friendly atmosphere that invites you to linger from one table to the next.

Music, pizzica, and late-night shopping

Beyond the food, GustiAmo Via Italia Nuova places a strong emphasis on music and entertainment. The evenings are enlivened by folk music groups and Salento pizzica, accompanied by DJ sets that turn the street into an open-air dance floor where guests sing and dance until late. The strength of this festival lies in the direct participation of the merchants of Via Italia Nuova, who have managed the organization and artistic direction alongside the Pro Loco Veglie since the very first edition. It is a grassroots event born from a desire to bring the street to life and offer residents and visitors evenings of taste and joy. GustiAmo Via Italia Nuova is part of the broader E-State in Cultura program, the summer festival of the Municipality of Veglie that brings music, theater, sports, shows, and gastronomy to the town between July and September.
