The Frecce Tricolori flying over the sea of the Island of the Sun
There are shows that leave you looking up, and the Grado Airshow is undoubtedly one of them. Every year, at the beginning of summer, the sky above the Island of the Sun becomes the stage for the Frecce Tricolori, the famous National Acrobatic Patrol of the Air Force, which with its aircraft draws green, white, and red trails in the sky, symbols of Italy.
The event, organised as part of the event calendar of the Municipality of Grado and the Grado Turismo Consortium, attracts thousands of spectators to the beaches and along the coastline, transforming a Sunday at the start of the season into a great popular festival with the sea as its backdrop.
The performance takes place in the stretch of sea in front of Grado's main beach and is visible from the beaches and the Diga Nazario Sauro promenade. The absolute stars are the Frecce Tricolori, joined in some editions by other formations and precision aerobatic flight teams.
The evolutions of the National Acrobatic Patrol, with its synchronised passes and spectacular manoeuvres, provide excitement for young and old alike, in a crescendo of applause that accompanies every figure traced in the sky.
The Grado Airshow is one of the events that open the island's summer season and is often part of a weekend full of events, including ceremonies, sporting events, and city celebrations. Admission is free, and the invitation is simple: find a good spot on the beach or promenade, look up, and be enchanted by the Frecce Tricolori flying over the sea of Grado.
The 2026 edition of the Grado Airshow is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the National Acrobatic Patrol Frecce Tricolori as the star in the sky above the sea of Grado, joined by other aerobatic flight formations.
The performance is visible from the main beach and the Diga Nazario Sauro promenade. On Saturday, June 6, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, general rehearsals will take place. Admission is free; during the performance, swimming and navigation bans are in force in the affected area.
