The Running Season Opener

When winter envelops Brianza, the village of Monticello Brianza, in the Province of Lecco, kicks off the running season with the Giro delle Cascine, a non-competitive walk that attracts around 1,700 participants each year. A tradition established for many decades, it has become an unmissable event for walkers and runners in the region.

Three Routes Through Seven Municipalities

The event offers routes of 7, 14, and 21 kilometers, suitable for all levels of fitness. The start and finish are at the middle school on Via Diaz, in the Torrevilla hamlet. The routes cross seven municipalities in the Lecco Brianza region — Monticello, Missaglia, Viganò, Sirtori, Barzanò, Casatenovo, and La Valletta Brianza — winding through farmhouses, fields, and the gentle hills that give the walk its name.

A Community Celebration

More than just a race, the Giro delle Cascine is a celebration for the entire Brianza region. Organized by the association Amici del Teatro e dello Sport A.P.S., the walk involves dozens of volunteers and passes through an area that retains the charm of the Brianza countryside, with its ancient farmhouses and rural landscapes.

Participating in the Giro delle Cascine means discovering an authentic corner of Lombardy on foot, far from the major cities, along the paths and country roads connecting the villages of Brianza. A genuine and healthy way to start the year, in good company and immersed in nature.
