About Giove Folklore Festival
World Traditions in Giove
The Giove International Folklore Festival is one of the most characteristic summer events in the province of Terni. For a week in July, the village of Giove welcomes international folk groups—over the years from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, India, China, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Taiwan, and various Italian regions—who bring dances, music, and costumes from their lands to the main square.
Between Folklore and Historical Re-enactment
The festival, organized by the Associazione Corteo Storico di Giove (Giove Historical Pageant Association), intertwines folklore with historical re-enactment. Among the unmissable events are the candle ceremony, the costumed historical pageant, and performances by flag wavers and musicians, which revive the atmosphere of the medieval village.
A Festival for Everyone
Evenings are enlivened by taverns serving local dishes, wine bars, and snacks, in addition to shows by the guest groups. The Folklore Festival is thus an occasion for cultural exchange and a great community celebration, capable of enhancing Giove's identity and the popular traditions of the Umbria Region, opening them up to global dialogue.

The 18th edition of the Giove International Folklore Festival is scheduled from July 12th to 19th, 2026. For a week, the village of Giove (province of Terni) hosts folk groups from various parts of Italy and abroad, featuring traditional dances, music, and costumes.
The festival, organized by the Associazione Corteo Storico di Giove, alternates performances by guest groups with events of a historical re-enactment nature, such as the candle ceremony, the costumed historical pageant, and performances by flag wavers and musicians. Evenings are enlivened by taverns serving local dishes, wine bars, and snacks.

Getting Here
Giove is located in the lower Tiber Valley, in the province of Terni, near the border with Lazio. By car, it can be reached from the SS205 Amerina or the A1 motorway (Orte or Attigliano exits). The festival takes place in the historic centre of the village.

The event is organized by the Associazione Corteo Storico di Giove. Free admission to shows; food and drinks at the taverns are payable.
