The "Ginevra d'Illasi" Renaissance Palio
Illasi, a village in the Val d'Illasi in the province of Verona, takes a dive into the Renaissance with the "Ginevra d'Illasi" Renaissance Palio. The event is dedicated to Ginevra Serego degli Alighieri, a figure linked to Dante's lineage, and transforms the town's historic center into a large Renaissance field animated by hundreds of volunteers, actors, and re-enactors.
Historical Re-enactment and Districts
The heart of the festival is the historical re-enactment: costumed parades, flag-throwers, scenes of Renaissance life, educational paths, and the challenge between the town's districts, who compete for the title of "District of the Year". Hundreds of volunteers and historical groups, along with local students, bring to life a participatory re-enactment that involves the entire community.
A Heritage to Discover
The event is also an opportunity to discover Illasi's heritage: the Castle, the Belvedere, and Villa Sagramoso, which is exceptionally open to the public during the palio. The Renaissance dinner, fire shows, and music complete an experience that combines history, gastronomy, and entertainment.
Illasi and the Valley
Located in the Val d'Illasi, between Verona and Lessinia, Illasi is known for its wines and its historic village dominated by the Castle. The Ginevra Palio is the town's new major identity event, capable of telling its history and attracting visitors from all over the province of Verona.

The first edition of the "Ginevra d'Illasi" Renaissance Palio will be held from May 29 to 31, 2026, in the historic center of Illasi, transformed for the occasion into a Renaissance field. The program alternates moments of re-enactment, culture, and gastronomy, culminating in the decisive challenge between the town's districts that will award the title of "District of the Year".

- 6:00 PM — Official inauguration of the Palio at the Giardino Musicale, with the presentation of the new tourist website VisitIllasi and a historical approfondimento on the town's Castle

- Afternoon: inauguration of the pedestrian route to visit the Castle, the Belvedere, and Villa Sagramoso, with extraordinary public opening
- Evening: Renaissance Dinner under the Moonlight, an enogastronomic journey curated by the Pro Loco and signed by chef Marcantonio Sagramoso from the restaurant Le Cedrare, with fire shows and music

How to get there
Illasi can be reached from Verona in about 30 minutes by car, heading up the Val d'Illasi (SP10). The nearest train station is Verona Porta Nuova, connected by intercity buses.
