About Gay Village

Gay Village is Rome's iconic LGBTQ+ summer hub, established in 2002 and long hosted in the lush surroundings of Parco del Ninfeo in the EUR district. For years, it has energized the capital's nights with house and pop music, drag queen shows, cabaret, theater, and themed cinema, becoming a hallmark of the 'Estate Romana' and a landmark for the rainbow community. A grand open-air project of freedom, culture, and entertainment in the heart of Rome, Lazio.

Gay Village, a symbol of the Roman Summer

For nearly two decades, Gay Village has been one of the most renowned summer festivals in Rome and Italy: a true open-air citadel dedicated to the culture, music, and rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Born in 2002, the event successfully blended entertainment with civil advocacy, transforming the capital's warm nights into a space of freedom, connection, and performance open to all.

From Testaccio to Parco del Ninfeo

The event has changed venues several times: from its early years at the former Mattatoio in Testaccio to the Baths of Caracalla, and finally its long-standing season at Parco del Ninfeo in the EUR district, where it found its most famous setting among conifers, fountains, and lawns. Notable figures of Italian activism, such as co-founder Imma Battaglia and Vladimir Luxuria, have served as artistic directors. During its peak, the Village attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors every summer.

Music, performance, and rainbow culture

The historic program of Gay Village went far beyond the dance floor. Each evening wove together different forms of expression:

  • concerts and DJ sets featuring house, deep house, dance, and pop until late at night;
  • drag queen shows, cabaret, and theater;
  • LGBTQ+ themed cinema and documentary screenings;
  • meetings, debates, and awareness campaigns against discrimination;
  • dining areas, bars, and stands within the large open-air space.

Parco del Ninfeo, in the heart of EUR

The EUR district, south of Rome in the Lazio region, has always been a hub for the city's summer nightlife. Parco del Ninfeo, with its green spaces and proximity to grand rationalist avenues, served for years as the Village's natural stage, easily accessible by subway.

A project of freedom and inclusion

More than just an open-air nightclub, Gay Village was a cultural symbol: a proudly inclusive space where music, performance, and the fight for rights coexisted naturally. This is why it remains one of the most cherished events of the Roman summer and a reference point for the capital's rainbow community.

New summers at Parco del Ninfeo

Following the long run of Gay Village, the Parco del Ninfeo area in EUR has continued to host Roman summer nightlife: in recent years, the site has welcomed the open-air Ninfeo Village, featuring concerts, DJ sets, and free-entry evenings. To check for any LGBTQ+ themed programming and updated dates, it is best to consult official channels and local press.

Gay Village — edition 2026

For summer 2026, an official edition of Gay Village with its historic format has not yet been announced: the Parco del Ninfeo area in EUR is currently hosting the open-air Ninfeo Village with concerts and DJ sets. Any potential dates and LGBTQ+ programming for the Village remain to be confirmed via official channels.

The Parco del Ninfeo in EUR remains one of the hearts of Roman open-air nightlife in summer 2026. At the moment, no official edition of Gay Village with its historic LGBTQ+ format has been announced: those looking for rainbow events in the capital can also refer to Roma Pride and related festivals. It is best to follow official channels for updates on dates, programs, and tickets.

The program for the 2026 edition of Gay Village has not yet been officially published. The Ninfeo Village is active in Parco del Ninfeo, EUR, throughout the summer with concerts and DJ sets. We recommend checking dates and line-ups on official channels before planning your evening.
