Rome's historic LGBTQ+ summer village at Parco del Ninfeo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
For nearly two decades, Gay Village has been one of the most renowned summer festivals in Rome and Italy: a true open-air citadel dedicated to the culture, music, and rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Born in 2002, the event successfully blended entertainment with civil advocacy, transforming the capital's warm nights into a space of freedom, connection, and performance open to all.
The event has changed venues several times: from its early years at the former Mattatoio in Testaccio to the Baths of Caracalla, and finally its long-standing season at Parco del Ninfeo in the EUR district, where it found its most famous setting among conifers, fountains, and lawns. Notable figures of Italian activism, such as co-founder Imma Battaglia and Vladimir Luxuria, have served as artistic directors. During its peak, the Village attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors every summer.
The historic program of Gay Village went far beyond the dance floor. Each evening wove together different forms of expression:
The EUR district, south of Rome in the Lazio region, has always been a hub for the city's summer nightlife. Parco del Ninfeo, with its green spaces and proximity to grand rationalist avenues, served for years as the Village's natural stage, easily accessible by subway.
More than just an open-air nightclub, Gay Village was a cultural symbol: a proudly inclusive space where music, performance, and the fight for rights coexisted naturally. This is why it remains one of the most cherished events of the Roman summer and a reference point for the capital's rainbow community.
Following the long run of Gay Village, the Parco del Ninfeo area in EUR has continued to host Roman summer nightlife: in recent years, the site has welcomed the open-air Ninfeo Village, featuring concerts, DJ sets, and free-entry evenings. To check for any LGBTQ+ themed programming and updated dates, it is best to consult official channels and local press.
The Parco del Ninfeo in EUR remains one of the hearts of Roman open-air nightlife in summer 2026. At the moment, no official edition of Gay Village with its historic LGBTQ+ format has been announced: those looking for rainbow events in the capital can also refer to Roma Pride and related festivals. It is best to follow official channels for updates on dates, programs, and tickets.
Parco del Ninfeo is located in the EUR district, south of Rome, between Via delle Tre Fontane and Via dell'Agricoltura. It can be reached via the Metro B line (EUR Palasport or EUR Fermi stops) and various bus lines; parking is available in the area for those arriving by car.
Historically, the Village was active on summer weekends, from evening until late at night, with free entry during certain hours and a ticketed entry in the evening. Rates, hours, and the calendar should always be verified on the official channels of the current edition.
