About Gabelletta Festival
A Neighborhood Festival in Terni
The Gabelletta Festival is the parish festival in honor of Our Lady of Fatima, celebrated annually in May in the hamlet of the same name in Terni, Umbria. Organized by the parish, it combines religious, popular, and community dimensions, involving the entire neighborhood in days of celebrations, events, and conviviality.
The Crochet Veil and the Procession
The most distinctive element is the maxi crochet veil, over 10 meters long, made by the craftswomen from the parish workshops and placed on the shoulders of the wooden statue of the Madonna. The climax is the procession on May 13th, the day of the Solemnity of Our Lady of Fatima, which winds through the neighborhood streets at night with the statue, amidst prayers, songs, and the sound of the band.
Between Faith and Popular Festival
The festival is preceded by a three-day preparation with rosary and holy masses, and continues in the following days with a rich program of events: dancing evenings, games in the oratory, the concert by the Cesi musical band, a play in the Terni dialect, and evening street food. An event that intertwines popular devotion and community spirit in the Gabelletta neighborhood of Terni.
Gabelletta Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition runs from May 10th to 24th, with the central moment on May 13th, the Solemnity of Our Lady of Fatima. The three-day preparation (May 10-12) includes the rosary at 5:30 PM and Holy Mass at 6:00 PM. This year, the statue of the Madonna is adorned with a new crochet veil over 10 meters long, made by the parish's craftswomen. The procession on May 13th, accompanied by the Cesi band, winds through the community's streets. In the following days, the celebrations continue with cultural presentations, dancing evenings, a band concert, a dialect play, and evening street food.
