Second Futurism on display in the halls of one of the Palazzi dei Rolli
The Futurism exhibition brings to Genoa, in the splendid halls of Palazzo della Meridiana - one of the UNESCO World Heritage Palazzi dei Rolli - a comprehensive review dedicated to one of the most revolutionary avant-garde movements of the 20th century. Curated by Simona Bartolena and Armando Fettolini and promoted by the Association Amici di Palazzo della Meridiana, the exhibition focuses on the so-called Second Futurism, that of the 1920s and 1930s.
The exhibition is divided into three sections. "Un altro Futurismo" (Another Futurism) investigates the phase of the widespread diffusion of aeropittura, with works by Prampolini, Fillia, Gerardo Dottori, and a young Bruno Munari. "Un Universo futurista" (A Futurist Universe) explores the multifaceted nature of the movement through over fifty manifestos and its applications in cinema, literature, music, theatre, and design, featuring ceramics from Albissola and collaborations with Campari.
The third section, "Liguria: terra futurista" (Liguria: Futurist Land), explores the link between the movement and the region. It is no coincidence that Marinetti himself, in 1915, defined Genoa as 'the Futurist city par excellence': the exhibition analyzes the presence and influence of Futurism throughout Liguria, presenting a little-known but fascinating chapter in the region's art history.
Open from March to July, the exhibition represents a valuable opportunity to rediscover Futurism in its most mature phase and to visit one of the most beautiful historic palaces in the center of Genoa. A significant event for art lovers and for those who want to learn about the city's Futurist roots.
