Extraordinary evening openings, concerts, and night tours at the Salinas Archaeological Museum in Palermo
Fuori Orario is the summer festival that turns the Antonio Salinas Regional Archaeological Museum in Palermo into an enchanting night-time stage. For several Fridays, the museum, housed in the ancient Filippini complex in Piazza Olivella, extends its opening hours until 10:00 PM, offering live concerts, evening guided tours, and an atmosphere suspended between art and archaeology in the heart of the Sicilian capital's historic center.
The 2026 edition is titled Il mio canto libero and is entirely dedicated to choral traditions. Four appointments, all on Fridays starting at 7:30 PM, focus on the voice as a tool for community and identity: choirs and vocal ensembles perform for free in the museum courtyard, ranging from sacred music to folk repertoires, and from gospel to singer-songwriter classics.
Alongside the concerts, the Fuori Orario evenings feature educational tours curated by CoopCulture staff. These tours guide visitors through the museum's collections and precious artifacts from Sicily's great archaeological sites, starting with Selinunte. The evening tours are held in two shifts, offering a unique opportunity to discover one of the island's most important archaeological collections at an unusual hour, far from the daytime crowds.
The Salinas Museum houses masterpieces of ancient Sicily, from the metopes of the temples of Selinunte to Phoenician, Greek, and Roman artifacts. With Fuori Orario, the Municipality of Palermo and the Sicilian Region propose a new way to experience heritage: music in the cloister, galleries open after sunset, and a dialogue between archaeology and contemporary art make this festival one of the most evocative cultural events of the Palermitan summer.
