The intensive theatre residency by Regula Teatro led by Raúl Iaiza, in Berzano di Tortona
Fuori Casa, a Casa is the intensive residential session of Regula Contra Regulam Teatro, the association founded by Raúl Iaiza that defines itself as a "post-pandemic theatre" guided by the motto "Less identity, more becoming". The 9th edition will be held from July 1st to 5th, 2026, in Berzano di Tortona, a small town in the Province of Alessandria nestled in the hills of lower Piedmont, far from the city's pace.
This is not a festival with performances open to the public, but a training and research residency: a time and place dedicated to those who make theatre to focus on their creative path in a communal setting. The residency is the natural extension of the Bottega d'Azione, the workshop series that Iaiza conducts throughout the year.
The experience is designed for independent artists and groups at any stage of their work: those who have a theatre project in mind, those who have already started a creation and are looking for intensive collaboration, those going through a creative crisis, and those who wish to start something new. The number of places is limited to ensure close, high-quality work.
The heart of the residency is the body-voice-relationship training, a collective practice that Iaiza intends not as a traditional course but as a space for stage craftsmanship. The days alternate between shared training sessions and moments of independent creative work, in a continuous dialogue between training and the staging process. For 2026, the theatre scholar Marco De Marinis, a leading figure in Italian theatre studies, is expected to attend as a guest.
Now in its ninth edition, Fuori Casa, a Casa has become a staple in the Regula Teatro calendar, hosted over the years in various locations across Northern Italy immersed in nature. The choice of Berzano di Tortona confirms the residency's vocation to seek intimate settings, outside urban centers, where the dimension of "making a home" together becomes an integral part of the theatrical work.
From July 1st to 5th, 2026, Regula Contra Regulam Teatro proposes the ninth edition of its intensive residency in Berzano di Tortona, in the Province of Alessandria. Five days of shared work away from the daily routine, designed for independent artists and groups who want to dedicate themselves to their creative path.
The residency is led by Raúl Iaiza, founder of Regula Teatro, with the participation of guest scholar Marco De Marinis. Registration is limited and closes on June 20th, 2026.
The 9th edition (July 1-5, 2026) is divided into five days of intensive work that alternate between:
