In Gildone, a village in the province of Campobasso (Molise), August 15th is one of the most cherished days of the year. The Fried Peppers Festival is indeed closely linked to the feast of the Madonna dell'Assunta and is among the three most important celebrations in the town, so much so that it is also known as the "devotion of the peppers".
The Feast Dish
The stars of the show are the fried peppers, served with fresh local bread and accompanied by regional wine. A simple, rustic combination that, on Ferragosto, becomes a symbol of conviviality and community identity. The festival takes place in the Santa Maria a Quadrano district, coinciding with the feast of the Madonna delle Grazie.

In 2026, the Fried Peppers Festival returns to Gildone (CB) on Ferragosto, in the Santa Maria a Quadrano district, linked to the feast of the Madonna dell'Assunta. Fried peppers will be served with fresh local bread and regional wine, during one of the most attended days of the Gildone summer, coinciding with the feast of the Madonna delle Grazie.
