Flying Befana Gathering

An Epiphany that takes flight

The Flying Befana Gathering is the event that brings the Adventure Park Lago d'Orta Le Pigne to life every January 6th. Located in the woods of Monte Oro in Ameno, a small town in the Province of Novara overlooking Lake Orta, the entire park becomes a natural stage for an afternoon where Epiphany tradition meets the adrenaline of treetop obstacle courses.

The Befanas take to the skies

The highlight of the festival is the spectacle of the Befanas launching themselves onto the park's zip-lines, gliding through the branches in a flight that leaves both adults and children in awe. Every participant arrives in full costume, and at the end of the show, the most original Befana is awarded—a fun way to celebrate the creativity of those taking to the cables. Before the flight, visitors can enjoy a walk to the famous Giant Bench on Monte Oro, a perfect panoramic spot for a souvenir photo with a view of the lake.

Celebration, taste, and solidarity

The day is about more than just the show: throughout the afternoon, you can enjoy hot chocolate, mulled wine, and panettone. In the late afternoon, the Happy Befana Party kicks off with a DJ set, music, food & drinks, and entertainment. In recent editions, the evening party has also taken on a charitable aspect through the involvement of local associations, turning the event into a moment of community as well as fun.

In Ameno, on Lake Orta

Ameno belongs to the Cusio region, situated between Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore in one of the most picturesque areas of northern Piedmont. The backdrop of forests and lake views makes the Flying Befana Gathering a one-of-a-kind experience, perfectly blending Epiphany folklore with a spectacular setting. Admission is free and open to everyone: just show up, preferably in costume, and let yourself be swept away by the festive atmosphere.
