The 5 km fluorescent fun race between fitness, music, and neon lights
Fluo Run Ferrara is a 5-kilometer non-competitive fun race that transforms the historic center of the Este capital into a large luminous track. More than just a race, it's a true festival of outdoor fun and well-being: it starts from Piazza Ariostea and passes through some of the city's most famous monuments, from the Palazzo dei Diamanti to the Castello Estense, from the Palazzo Comunale to the Cathedral of San Giorgio, running along the picturesque Este walls illuminated by the fluo lights of the participants.
The soul of Fluo Run is the collective celebration. Before the start, the village set up in Piazza Ariostea offers a rich program of activities led by official coaches: yoga sessions, group warm-ups, high-energy Zumba and fitness dance, high-intensity workouts synchronized with music. All participants receive the official Fluo Run kit, with a fluorescent technical shirt, bib, and luminous gadgets, and can visit the make-up area for phosphorescent makeup that makes the night even more spectacular.
The Fluo Run formula is designed to involve all types of audiences, from families with children to the most trained athletes. It is not a timed race: everyone chooses whether to run or walk the 5 km and which village activities to participate in. The registration fee includes, in addition to the kit, access to the village, fitness activities, insurance, technical and medical assistance, a final refreshment point, and musical entertainment that accompanies the entire evening.
The event, organized by Polisportiva Fluo Run A.S.D., is part of the program of the Ferrara Summer Festival, the summer event that enlivens the capital of the Province of Ferrara, in Emilia-Romagna. The Fluo Run format, born in 2012 as a race to promote psychophysical well-being and grown to become a traveling festival of fitness and fun, has found one of its most successful stops in Ferrara: the 2025 edition exceeded four thousand registered participants.
Fluo Run Ferrara 2026 returns on Friday, July 3, in Piazza Ariostea, from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM. The program alternates fitness, music, and fun before the start of the 5 km fun race through the historic center illuminated by fluo lights.
Participation is flexible: everyone chooses which village activities to take part in. Access requires registration with an official bib.
