Crafts, Irpinian flavors, and open-air concerts in Piazza San Rocco
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In Flumeri, a small town in the Ufita Valley in the province of Avellino, there is an August evening that the local youth prepare for all year long: Flumeri Terra e Musica, also known by the acronym FTM. From sunset onwards, Piazza San Rocco turns into an open-air stage where crafts, gastronomy, and live music blend seamlessly. The event traditionally kicks off at 8:30 PM, but the square remains vibrant well past midnight: it is one of those festivals where the entire town, along with neighboring communities in upper Irpinia, gathers for the last big night before Ferragosto.
The formula chosen by the organizers gives equal importance to hands and ears. Traditional stands promoting and showcasing local products are set up along the square, alongside artisans' stalls: an evening market that serves as both a showcase and a workshop.
The musical lineup is the event's signature, and over the years it has alternated between local bands and nationally renowned names. In 2023, the event opened with saxophonist Daniele Cianci, followed by the Dogana Blues Band — Leonardo Befaro on vocals and harmonica, Luigi del Sordo on drums, Francesco Ferrajuolo on bass, Rocco Palmarozza on guitar — before handing the stage to 99 Posse, one of the most famous expressions of Italian raggamuffin rap; the following evening, the trio I Minolli and Inna Cantina Sound took the stage.
The eighth edition, on Friday, August 9, 2024, followed a well-established pattern: at 8:30 PM Il Pozzo di San Patrizio, a folk rock band active since 1996, at 10:00 PM the Irpinian group Zeketam, and at midnight the DJ set by Ludovica Pagani along with DJ Antonio Imbriano. The 2025 edition, on August 9, also relaunched the same blend of flavors, crafts, and concerts under the hashtag #FTM25.
Since its early editions, the event has looked beyond the main stage. In 2014, for the third edition, the festival took place along the streets of the historic center, involving Francesco Di Bella with the Ballads Café, the Sciglia Paglia Band, Tarantaraba, and Francesco Pignalosa, with the comedy duo Kaos Mattaccino and the theater company La Baracca dei Buffoni. Even then, the organizers launched an open call for artisans and street artists: a participatory spirit that has remained the hallmark of Terra e Musica.
Behind the event is the Flumeri Youth Forum, which organizes it in collaboration with the Municipality of Flumeri and, in the early editions, with the local Civil Protection and Radio Flumeri. In an inland area of Campania dealing with depopulation, a group of under-30s manages to create an evening capable of filling the square, always with free admission.
Terra e Musica is part of a particularly dense August in Flumeri. The town is indeed known for its Giglio di grano, the obelisk built in honor of the patron saint San Rocco: after the raising, the community accompanies it in the spectacular pull from the Campo del Giglio to the historic center, in a ritual that culminates with the patronal feast on August 16. The Youth Forum's evening anticipates that moment by a few days and shares the same symbolic space, Piazza San Rocco. For those visiting inland Campania, it is the perfect opportunity to discover a corner of Irpinia far from the classic tourist circuits.
At the time of our last check, no official date or program has been published for the 2026 edition: neither the Municipality of Flumeri's website nor the event portals of the Province of Avellino report the appointment. We recommend following the social media channels of the Flumeri Youth Forum for confirmation of the date and lineup.
No official communication has been identified for the 2026 edition of Flumeri Terra e Musica: the date has not yet been set and the program has not been published. The event calendar of the Municipality of Flumeri, in the province of Avellino, does not report the appointment at the time of our last check.
If the event returns according to the habit of recent years, the appointment will be in Piazza San Rocco on an evening in August, with opening around 8:30 PM, craft and Irpinian gastronomy stalls, and a succession of concerts until late at night, as is tradition with free admission. We recommend following the social media channels of the Flumeri Youth Forum, which announces the date and guests every year close to the event, usually in the weeks before Ferragosto.
Piazza San Rocco, in the center of Flumeri (83040), province of Avellino, Campania. The first editions also took place along the streets of the historic center.
By car: the most convenient motorway exit is Grottaminarda on the A16 Naples-Canosa, a few kilometers from the town; from there, continue on the local roads of the Ufita Valley. Parking is available in the areas on the outskirts of the center, as the square is occupied by the stands.
Bus connections to Flumeri are limited, especially in the evening; for an event that continues past midnight, the car remains the most practical solution.
In recent editions, opening time has been set at 8:30 PM, with main concerts from 10:00 PM onwards. Free admission.

August in Irpinia offers cool evenings even after hot days: bring a light sweater. If you want to combine the festival with local traditions, check the dates of the raising and pulling of the Giglio di grano and the patronal feast of San Rocco, which in Flumeri falls on August 16.
