The florovivaismo market exhibition in the village of the Modena Apennines
Every year, between the end of May and the first days of June, the historic center of Sestola, in the Province of Modena, transforms into an open-air garden. Fiori a Sestola is the florovivaismo market exhibition that animates the squares and streets of the village at the foot of the Rocca, in the heart of the Modena Apennines and at the foot of Monte Cimone, the highest peak in Emilia-Romagna. For a few days, the town fills with colors and scents, with floral arrangements, artistic decorations, and stands dedicated to greenery.
The heart of the event is the exhibition and sale of plants and flowers, with numerous florovivaismo exhibitors from various regions of northern Italy. Among the stands, you'll find multi-colored displays and a great botanical variety: roses, orchids, hydrangeas, nemesias, succulents, and aromatic plants, as well as products for garden and home care. The exhibition and sale are open daily, generally from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, along Piazza della Vittoria, Corso Libertร , and the other streets of the center.
In addition to the market, the program offers numerous creative workshops and moments dedicated to green culture, designed to engage adults and children. Over the years, proposals have included workshops on bees and pollinators, basket weaving activities, "Little Gardeners," animated readings between stories and petals, distillation of aromatic plants, and preparation of natural scented soaps. Some workshops for children require a small participation fee, while many activities are free.
Fiori a Sestola is an event that combines florovivaismo, craftsmanship, and mountain landscape culture, with a particular focus on environmental education and the involvement of children. Strolling among the flowery stands, participating in workshops, and discovering the historic village of Sestola with its Rocca makes the event a perfect opportunity for a spring trip to the Apennines. Admission to the event is free.
The event takes place in the historic center of Sestola (Municipality of Sestola, Province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna), with Piazza della Vittoria and the village streets as reference points. It is organized by the Tourist Information and Reception Office (IAT-R) of Sestola together with the Municipality. For information, you can contact the local tourist office.
