Devotion to the Madonna del Monte
The feast of Maria SS. Incoronata del Monte is one of the most heartfelt moments of devotion in Campobasso, the capital of Molise. The cult is linked to the sanctuary that stands on Monforte hill, from which the statue of the Virgin is carried in procession through the historic center at the end of the Marian month of May.
The Art of the Infiorata
The most spectacular feature of the feast is the Infiorata: master flower-layers create real carpets of petals and flowers along the streets of the center, ephemeral works of art that decorate the procession route. The compositions extend along Via Ziccardi, Via Marconi, and the Bruschio bridge, as well as under the balconies of the Town Hall, where the procession stops for a blessing.
Faith, Community, and Solidarity
The feast intertwines the religious dimension with community and solidarity: alongside the celebrations, there are charitable initiatives such as the sale of crocheted roses in support of autism associations. An event that tells the Marian identity of Campobasso and the city's deep connection with its sanctuary on Monforte, in the heart of the Molise Region.
Madonna del Monte — edition 2026
The Infiorata 2026 colored the center of Campobasso with petal carpets created by master flower-layers along the procession route. On Sunday, May 31, the solemn mass at 4:00 PM, presided over by Archbishop Mons. Biagio Colaianni, preceded the procession which started from the sanctuary on Monforte hill and wound through the historic center and the Murattiano district, with a stop under the Town Hall balconies. Among the solidarity initiatives, the sale of crocheted roses made by the "Con il cuore – Danilo Sabatino" association of Bojano in support of autism initiatives.
