A spring fair in the heart of Baricella
Fior di Fiera is the event that every May transforms the historic center of Baricella, a municipality in the plain of the Metropolitan City of Bologna, into a grand celebration. For three days, the squares and streets of the town fill with markets, street vendors, rides, food stalls, and live shows, with that desire to come together that has always characterized the village festivals of Emilia-Romagna.
The Gen Sound Festival
The weekend kicks off at Parco della Resistenza with the Gen Sound Festival, the music section of the event. Starting from 6 PM, the park becomes a meeting place for live music, artisanal gins, and good food: two evenings designed especially for young people, with DJ sets, cover bands, and guests animating the lawn until late.
The Flower Carpet and Sunday Celebration
The most anticipated moment is the big Sunday in the center. In Piazza Carducci, the artistic flower carpet takes shape, a carpet of flowers composed petal by petal thanks to the collaboration with Infioritalia and the participation of local youth: a tradition that combines ephemeral art and community commitment. Around it, the celebration spreads throughout the town.
- Via Roma becomes an open-air stage with traditional games, juggling, magic, sports demonstrations, and shows for all ages.
- Piazza Pertini hosts local associations, DJ sets, creative spaces, and solidarity stands, with initiatives dedicated to safety and animal welfare.
- Between the two squares, a row of food trucks and stands from restaurants and bars offer local specialties.
There are also markets, rides for the little ones, and an exhibition of tuned cars and motorcycles, while in the evening the Centro Culturale Bargello hosts the grand finale of a music competition dedicated to young talents.
A festival for the whole community
Organized by the Municipality of Baricella together with the Committee of Economic Operators and local associations, Fior di Fiera is a free and open-to-all event that tells the identity of a town in the Bolognese plain through flowers, music, food, and the desire to be together.
Fior di Fiera — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Fior di Fiera brought three days of celebration to Baricella, from May 8 to 10. The weekend opened with the second edition of the Gen Sound Festival at Parco della Resistenza, while Sunday saw the historic center come alive with the flower carpet in Piazza Carducci, shows in Via Roma, associations in Piazza Pertini, and the exhibition of tuned cars and motorcycles. Free admission to all events.

Friday, May 8 — Gen Sound Festival
At Parco della Resistenza, from 6 PM: opening night with DJ KDKD DJ set, live music, artisanal gin, and good food (catering by Agrilocanda Val Campotto).
Saturday, May 9 — Gen Sound Festival
At Parco della Resistenza, from 6 PM: live performance by the rock cover band Feedback, more music, gin, and food.
Sunday, May 10 — The celebration in the center
- Piazza Carducci (morning and afternoon): "Infior di Fiera — Between flower geometries", artistic flower carpet created with Infioritalia, and artistic gymnastics performance.
- Via Roma (all day): traditional games, juggling, and magic, with performances by Porcapizza, Optical Duo, and Bacche Matte.
- Piazza Pertini: local associations, DJ sets, creative spaces, and solidarity stands, with initiatives on safety and animal welfare.
- Centro Culturale Bargello (evening): grand finale of the music competition for young talents.
All day: markets and street vendors, rides, exhibition of tuned cars and motorcycles, food trucks in the row between Piazza Pertini and Piazza Carducci, restaurants and bars with local specialties.

How to get there
Baricella is located in the plain northeast of Bologna, along the San Donato provincial road. By car, it can be reached from Bologna in about 30 minutes; the historic center, where the event takes place, is easily accessible on foot. For those arriving by train, the reference station is Bologna Centrale, then connected to the town by intercity buses.
Admission and hours
Admission to the entire event is free. The Gen Sound Festival at Parco della Resistenza starts from 6 PM; the Sunday celebration in the center takes place all day, morning and afternoon.
