The Trial World Championship returns to Camerino after 34 years
After thirty-four years of waiting, the FIM Trial World Championship is once again stopping in Camerino, in the province of Macerata, in the heart of the Marche region. The university city last hosted the world championship in 1992, in a historic edition won by the unforgettable Diego Bosis: the return in 2026 therefore has a strong symbolic value for the territory and for the Italian trial movement.
The Italian GP is the third round of the Hertz FIM TrialGP World Championship season and takes place from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21, 2026. The event is organized by the Moto Club Camerino together with the Italian Motorcycle Federation, with the support of the Municipality of Camerino and the Marche Region.
Trial is a spectacular and silent motorcycle discipline, where riders tackle natural courses made of rocks, slopes, jumps, and obstacles, without ever putting their feet on the ground. In Camerino, the race Zones are set up in the Figareto area, also accessible to the public thanks to a dedicated shuttle service. The starting area is located at an altitude of 585 meters, while the sections develop down to 550 meters amidst the Apennine landscapes of the Marche hinterland.
The most important world championship categories are competing: TrialGP (the premier men's class), TrialGP Women, Trial2, Trial2 Women, and Trial3. The rider with the best overall score over the two race days is awarded the Giuseppe Ronconi Memorial.
The Italian GP is not just about sport: the Camerino edition aims to leave a legacy to the territory that goes beyond the competition. The program includes the opening ceremony, autograph sessions with the champions, guided tours of the city, environmental sustainability projects promoted by FIM and FMI, and initiatives dedicated to inclusion. For the younger ones, there is a free Hobby Sport Course, where girls and boys can try mini-motorcycles under the guidance of federal technicians.
For Camerino, a city hit by the 2016 earthquake and engaged in a long path of rebirth, hosting an event on the world calendar represents an important opportunity for tourist relaunch and promotion of the entire area of the Monti Sibillini and the upper Macerata region.
The 2026 edition marks the return of the Trial World Championship to Camerino after 34 years. The event is organized by Moto Club Camerino with the Italian Motorcycle Federation and the support of the Municipality of Camerino. In addition to the races, the weekend features an opening ceremony, autograph sessions, the Giuseppe Ronconi Memorial for the best overall score, guided tours, FIM/FMI sustainability projects, and inclusion activities.
