The convivial dinner of Pro Seppio, in the mountains of Pioraco
Tutti a tavola is the convivial gathering of the Libera Associazione Pro Seppio, the association that enlivens the small hamlet of Seppio, in the Municipality of Pioraco, in the heart of the hinterland of the Province of Macerata. It is one of those village festivals that tell the most authentic soul of the Marche region: no stages, just long tables, aromas of country cooking, and a desire to be together. The slogan chosen by the organizers, "there's sheep... and more!", says it all about the spirit of the evening.
At the center of the menu is sheep, the main ingredient of the pastoral cuisine of the Marche Apennines, prepared according to old recipes. Around this iconic dish revolve other local traditional offerings, in a gastronomic journey designed to introduce participants to the flavors of the Macerata mountains. It is a dinner designed for those who love true conviviality, the kind found at village festivals (sagre), where every course is prepared with care by the association's volunteers.
Seppio is a small hamlet of Pioraco, nestled at about 500 meters above sea level, a few kilometers from the main village and its famous Potenza River Gorge. Pioraco, known as the "City of Paper" for its ancient paper-making tradition documented since the 1200s, is a favorite destination for hikers thanks to the suggestive Li Vurgacci Trail, which winds through waterfalls, wooden bridges, and mysterious "monster pit" sculptures. Participating in Tutti a tavola is also an opportunity to discover this green corner of the Province of Macerata, far from the main tourist flows.
Events like this are the engine of social life in the small Apennine centers: Pro Seppio brings together residents, families originally from the village, and visitors around the table for an evening that combines good food and a sense of belonging. Participation is by reservation only, to be made a few days before the event, allowing the organization to best prepare the tables.
The Tutti a tavola 2026 evening begins on Sunday, June 21, at 7:30 PM, at the sports facilities of the hamlet of Seppio, in Pioraco. The absolute star of the table is sheep, cooked according to traditional Marche country recipes, accompanied by other local specialties, as the evening's slogan reminds us: "there's sheep... and more!". Seppio is reached by car from Pioraco, along the road that climbs towards the mountain. Pioraco is located in the Macerata hinterland, accessible from the SS361 Septempedana. It is advisable to arrive by car, with parking available near the sports facilities.
