The international digital art group exhibition in the village of Belforte del Chienti
There is something surprising about finding an international digital art exhibition in a village of just a few hundred souls like Belforte del Chienti, perched on the hills of the province of Macerata, in the Marche region. Yet, it is precisely here that MIDAC, the International Museum of Dynamic Contemporary Art, operates. This project by the cultural association Terra dell'Arte has for years made this municipality a reference point for artists from every continent. Its flagship event is MIDAC Digitale, the international group exhibition dedicated to digital art.
Each year, the museum selects and invites a group of international artists to exhibit works created using the languages of digital creation: computer-generated images, generative graphics, digital photography, video art, and research that intertwines technology and imagination. The works are displayed in the rooms of Palazzo Bonfranceschi, a historic building in the town center, at Via Cavour 14. The curation is entrusted to Terra dell'Arte, with the patronage of the Municipal Administration of Belforte del Chienti.
The distinctive feature of MIDAC Digitale is its international dimension: each edition features alternating Italian and European artists, as well as artists from Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. It is this mix of perspectives and origins that makes the exhibition unique in the Marche hinterland, which is usually more associated with local festivals (sagre) and historical reenactments. Alongside the digital exhibition, the museum produces a dedicated catalogue, often available online, documenting the works and artists featured.
MIDAC Digitale is just one of the museum's activities. Its main headquarters are in the former church of San Sebastiano, and throughout the year, it hosts solo and group exhibitions and international projects like ventipertrenta. A visit to the exhibition can thus be an opportunity to discover a charming village: a short walk away is the church of Sant'Eustachio, which houses the famous 1468 polyptych by Giovanni Boccati, and all around, the landscape of the Monti Sibillini unfolds. It's a different way to experience the province of Macerata and the Marche region, between contemporary art and historical heritage.
The seventeenth edition of MIDAC Digitale is held at Palazzo Bonfranceschi, Via Cavour 14, in the historic center of Belforte del Chienti, from May 9 to July 12, 2026. The international group exhibition of digital art is curated by Terra dell'Arte with the patronage of the Municipal Administration.
The inauguration took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM. The edition is accompanied by a catalogue, also available online, documenting the works and artists on display. Admission is free.
