The historic concert series in Messina, featuring classical music, chamber music, jazz, and contemporary sounds.
The Filarmonica Laudamo is one of the oldest and most prestigious musical institutions in Messina, Sicily. Its concert activity dates back to the early 20th century, making it one of the longest-running concert societies in Italy. Each year, the association presents a new season that, from autumn to spring, takes the Messina audience on a long journey through great masterpieces of the repertoire and more contemporary sounds.
Concerts are held at the Palacultura Antonello da Messina, in the heart of the city. The schedule is divided into two weekly appointments: the Sunday concerts at 6:00 PM, dedicated to the great classical and chamber repertoire, and the Thursday evening series, at 7:00 PM, titled Accordi_Acorde, which is reserved for new musical languages and experimental proposals.
The programming is intentionally diverse: chamber music (string quartets, piano trios, wind quintets), solo recitals (piano, violin, cello, and guitar), orchestral concerts with ensembles from the Arcangelo Corelli Conservatory of Messina, as well as evenings dedicated to jazz, film music, and tributes. A formula that has always sought to combine the European symphonic and chamber tradition with an open eye toward the present.
Beyond the quality of its Italian and international guests, the Filarmonica Laudamo stands out for its strong bond with the Messina area. Collaborations with local schools and institutions, educational projects, and initiatives aimed at young people make the season not just a concert series, but a true musical and cultural laboratory for the city of Messina, the capital of the province of the same name in Sicily.
The 105th concert season of the Filarmonica Laudamo consisted of 30 events at the Palacultura Antonello da Messina: 22 Sunday concerts at 6:00 PM and 8 Thursday concerts at 7:00 PM as part of the Accordi_Acorde section, dedicated to new musical languages. The artistic direction was entrusted to bassoonist Antonino Cicero, who proposed a journey capable of uniting the great chamber tradition with original productions, new commissions, and educational projects aimed at younger audiences.
The program continued with solo recitals and chamber ensembles (including guests such as pianist Emanuele Arciuli, violinist Aiman Mussakhajayeva, and cellist Enrico Bronzi), orchestral concerts with ensembles from the Corelli Conservatory and the Wind Orchestra, concluding with a lecture-recital on March 15 that combined piano and narration.
Concerts take place at the Palacultura Antonello da Messina, in the center of Messina (Sicily).
Sunday concerts: 6:00 PM. Thursday Accordi_Acorde series: 7:00 PM. The season runs from October to May.
