The great November fair of Polesine, with national title since 1819
In Castelmassa, a town in Alto Polesine on the border with the provinces of Mantua, Modena, and Ferrara, the Fiera Nazionale di San Martino is the event that draws visitors from three regions every November. Established by imperial decree on May 10, 1819, with market records dating back to 1765, it is the fair with the unique national title in Polesine: in 2026, it will reach its 208th edition.
For four days, the town centre transforms into a large exhibition route: over 4 km of stalls and about 240 exhibitors line the streets of Castelmassa, alongside the historic Mostra Mercato Altopolesano di Castelmassa (MAAC), now in its 43rd edition, and the funfair. Art exhibitions, displays of military vehicles from World War II, vintage car and motorcycle rallies, photographic exhibitions, concerts, and DJ sets enrich the calendar.
The gastronomic heart of the fair is the Via dei Sapori Locali, where the Pro Loco (local tourist board) and local rice producers offer traditional Polesine dishes: risottos, boiled meats, passatelli in broth, and much more. The Fiera di San Martino di Castelmassa thus combines commerce, culture, entertainment, and gastronomy in one of the most cherished and long-standing events in the Veneto region.
The 208th Fiera Nazionale di San Martino 2026 returns to Castelmassa in November, around the feast day of San Martino (11 November), following the 207th edition held from 7 to 10 November 2025. For 2026, the event's large scale is confirmed: over 4 km of stalls and about 240 exhibitors, the Mostra Mercato Altopolesano (MAAC), the funfair, and the Via dei Sapori Locali with risottos, boiled meats, and passatelli in broth. The detailed programme, including exhibitions, vintage car and motorcycle rallies, and concerts, will be published on the official website.
The detailed programme for the 208th edition in 2026 will be published on the official website www.sanmartinoinfiera.eu in the weeks preceding the fair. Usual structure of the event, over four days in November:
