The Fiera di San Matteo is one of the four traditional fairs that mark the commercial year in Terni, along with the Fiera di San Valentino, the Fiera del Cassero, and the Fiera di Santa Lucia. It is held in autumn and represents a popular event rooted in city life.
In the northern area of the city
Unlike the fairs that animate the historic center, the Fiera di San Matteo takes place along Via del Centenario, in the northern area of Terni. The stalls offer clothing, household items, local products, sweets, and crafts, in a day of celebration that involves the neighborhood and visitors from nearby towns.

As with other city fairs, the date may be moved to avoid coinciding with home games of Ternana Calcio. The Fiera di San Matteo remains one of the most keenly felt events of Terni's September, in the province of Terni, in the heart of southern Umbria.
Fiera di San Matteo — edition 2026
The Municipality of Terni has set the Fiera di San Matteo for Sunday, September 27, 2026, along Via del Centenario in the northern part of the city. The stalls will offer clothing, gastronomic products, sweets, and crafts throughout the day.
As with other city fairs, the date remains subject to not coinciding with home games of Ternana Calcio.
