A night of music throughout the historic center

The Fiano Romano Music Festival is the annual event that celebrates the summer solstice in this town in the province of Rome, in the heart of the Lazio region. Every June 21st, the historic center turns into a widespread stage: three distinct venues, dozens of musical groups, and an audience that wanders on foot from one square to another, following the notes until late at night. All concerts are free and held outdoors.

A town in the international circuit

For several years, the Municipality of Fiano Romano has joined the international Music Festival circuit, promoted in Italy by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the European Commission's Representation in Italy. It is the same celebration that lights up thousands of cities across Europe on June 21st, here scaled to the town's size: no massive stages, but a network of nearby spots all within walking distance for a single evening. The event is organized by the Municipality's Culture and Tourism Office in partnership with the Nicola Ferilli Musicultural Association.

Three squares, three atmospheres

• Piazza Giacomo Matteotti — the heart of the festival and the most energetic stage, where local bands, tribute acts, and rock and blues groups take turns.
• Piazzale Cairoli — a more intimate and choral setting: choirs, soloists, young pianists, and the middle school orchestra.
• Parco delle Rimembranze — the most experimental side, featuring jazz, world music, singer-songwriters, and a closing DJ set.

Community-driven music

What makes this festival special is the balance between professionals and local talent. The Fiano Romano Marching Band traditionally opens the evening, followed by the choir of the Santo Stefano church; then it is the turn of school students and young pianists before the bands take over the squares. It is a model that celebrates local musical associations, school music education, and cultural volunteering, restoring the word "festival" to its most literal meaning: not just a show to watch, but an evening to experience together.

Fiano Romano and the Tiber Valley

Fiano Romano stands on the right bank of the Tiber River, about thirty kilometers from Rome, in the Tiber Valley that serves as a bridge between the Roman countryside and the Sabina area. The village is dominated by the Orsini Ducal Castle, an imposing 15th-century structure that defines the skyline of the historic center. Its location, right next to the A1 motorway exit, has made it an important logistics hub over the years, yet the town's fabric retains a cozy scale, made of squares and alleys: the very same ones that become the natural route of the festival on the evening of June 21st.

The Fiano Romano Music Festival requires no tickets, imposes no schedules, and forces no choices: you can listen to half an hour of choral music in Piazzale Cairoli, move to Piazza Matteotti for a tribute band, and end the night with jazz at Parco delle Rimembranze.
