The city's celebrations for Republic Day
On June 2nd in Isernia, the capital of Molise, the Republican Festivities mark the official ceremony promoted by the Prefecture to celebrate the birth of the Italian Republic. The day combines the solemn moment of homage to the Fallen, the recognition of civil merit, and an evening of celebration open to the public.
The celebrations begin in the morning in Piazza Tullio Tedeschi, in front of the Monument to the Fallen, with the honour guard, flag-raising, wreath-laying by the Prefect, and the reading of the President's message. There will also be space for students from the Provincial Council and a static display of vehicles from the Police Forces, Fire Brigade, Red Cross, and CISOM.
In the afternoon, in the Aula Magna of the former Episcopal Seminary, the diplomas of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic will be awarded. In the evening, in Piazza Celestino V, a concert will conclude the festivities, transforming the institutional solemnity into a moment of popular participation in the heart of the Molise capital.
The 2026 Republican Festivities in Isernia celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic (1946-2026). On the morning of June 2nd, at 10:00 AM, the ceremony at the Monument to the Fallen will take place in Piazza Tullio Tedeschi: honour guard, flag-raising, wreath-laying by Prefect Giuseppe Montella, and reading of the presidential message, with speeches by students from the Provincial Council and artists from the 'Italo Argentino' Theatre of Agnone, as well as a static display of vehicles from the Police Forces, Fire Brigade, Red Cross, and CISOM.
