The great musical review of Lake Iseo stops in Castro
The Festival Onde Musicali sul Lago d'Iseo is one of Lombardy's most original music festivals. Created to enhance the lakeside territory between the Provinces of Bergamo and Brescia, it offers a packed calendar of concerts every year from late May to early September, touching the villages overlooking the water, the islands, and even historic boats. The artistic direction alternates established names with emerging young international performers, spanning classical, symphonic, chamber, early music, opera, jazz, tango, and crossover fusions.
The village of Castro, on the Bergamo side of Lake Iseo in the Province of Bergamo, is one of the locations hosting the review's concerts. The events take place in the charming historic center and along the lakefront, where music dialogues with the lakeside landscape. These are free admission concerts, designed to bring quality music to the public in an informal and beautiful setting.
The festival's strength lies in its variety: it ranges from chamber repertoire to jazz, from early music to tango sounds, in ensembles from duos to larger groups. In Castro, the events range from saxophone and guitar duos to trumpet, guitar, piano, and double bass ensembles, in a lineup that showcases both established soloists and winners of international competitions hosted by the review.
Listening to a concert in Castro means combining the musical experience with the discovery of one of Italy's most fascinating lakes, nestled among the mountains and also famous for Monte Isola, the largest inhabited lake island in Europe. The festival is an invitation to experience Lake Iseo in a different way, letting music guide you from one village to another.
The 2026 edition, the ninth of the festival, runs from May 29 to September 5 with over fifty concerts spread across the Municipalities of Lake Iseo and Franciacorta. Artistic direction is by Claudio Piastra. Among the year's novelties is the centenary of the Motonave Capitanio 1926, the oldest historic boat on the lake, celebrated with a series of concerts on board.
In Castro, the review brings two free events, part of a lineup that alternates great performers and young talents, with a repertoire ranging from classical to jazz and crossover.
The events in Castro are part of the festival's general program, which includes over fifty concerts in villages, islands, and historic boats on Lake Iseo from May 29 to September 5, 2026.
The saxophone and guitar duo on July 24 in the historic center and the ensemble on September 5 on the lakefront, both with free admission, with Lake Iseo as the backdrop.
