Ferragosto in Parzanica, above Lake Iseo

The Sagra di Ferragosto is the summer festival of Parzanica, a small municipality in the province of Bergamo perched above the Bergamo shore of Lake Iseo. For about forty years, the festival has enlivened the central days of August, celebrating two deeply felt religious occasions together: the Assumption (August 15th) and Saint Roch (August 16th), the town's patron saint.

Five days of celebration

The event unfolds over five days. Every evening, starting from 7:00 PM, the bar and food stalls open, offering specialties that change daily—from boiled beef with green sauce to sardines with polenta—as well as pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven. The evenings are enlivened by dancing orchestras and DJ nights, alternating throughout the festival, and by the traditional tombola games.

Devotion and tradition

Alongside the popular festival, the religious dimension remains strong: the solemn mass of the Assumption and, on Saint Roch's day, the procession with the statue of the patron saint through the town's streets. It is a moment when the community of Parzanica renews its faith and traditions, in a blend typical of Bergamo's Ferragosto festivals.

The grand finale with fireworks

The festival concludes with a fireworks display, illuminating the sky above Lake Iseo. Organized by local associations, with free admission, the Sagra di Ferragosto is much more than a summer festival: it is the heart of Parzanica's identity and an opportunity to discover one of the most scenic and authentic corners of the Bergamo Sebino.
