The Festa di San Rocco is the patronal festival of Parzanica, a small municipality nestled on the slopes overlooking Lake Iseo, in the province of Bergamo. San Rocco is celebrated on August 16th, and around this date, the town experiences its most intense days, coinciding with the Ferragosto Sagra: the religious and festive moments merge into a single week of celebrations.
Devotion and procession
The religious heart of the festival is on August 16th, with the solemn mass in the morning and, in the afternoon, the mass followed by the procession with the statue of San Rocco through the village streets. This is the moment most cherished by the community, an expression of popular devotion deeply rooted in the lakeside villages.
The Ferragosto Sagra
Alongside the religious part, the evenings are enlivened by the sagra: aperitifs, food stands with local specialties (from boiled beef with green sauce to sardines with polenta), dance orchestras, cover bands, and DJ sets. The week culminates on the evening of August 16th with fireworks. Throughout the event, bars, a kitchen, wood-fired pizza, and traditional tombola (bingo) are available.
A village festival by the lake
The Festa di San Rocco has free admission and represents Parzanica's main summer event. For a village of a few hundred inhabitants, it is the time when the community comes together, between faith, music, and conviviality, against the backdrop of Lake Iseo.
Festa di San Rocco — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Festa di San Rocco is expected in Parzanica in mid-August, with the patron saint's day set for the 16th, integrated with the Ferragosto Sagra.
The structure follows the established pattern: evenings with aperitifs and food stands, dance orchestras, DJ sets, and cover bands, religious celebrations with a solemn mass and procession on August 16th, and concluding fireworks. - 7:00 PM — Opening with aperitif and food stand (local specialties: boiled beef with green sauce, sardines with polenta)
- 9:00 PM — Evening of dancing or entertainment with an orchestra, cover band, or DJ set
Thursday (Assumption of Mary)
- 10:30 AM — Holy Mass
- 6:30 PM — Food stand opens
- 9:00 PM — Musical evening
Saturday/Friday, August 16th — San Rocco
- 10:30 AM — Solemn Mass of San Rocco
- 4:00 PM — Holy Mass and procession with the statue of San Rocco
- 6:30 PM — Food stand opens
- 9:00 PM — Evening of dancing with an orchestra
- 11:30 PM — Fireworks (weather permitting)
