The patronal festival of Cornaredo with the historic Agro-Zootechnical Fair
The Festival of the Town of SS. James and Philip is the patronal festival of Cornaredo, in the Province of Milan. Dedicated to the two patron saints โ Saint James the Greater and Saint Philip โ it is one of the most deeply rooted events in the religious and civil life of this municipality on the outskirts of the Lombard capital.
The festival is not a one-day affair: a series of events unfolds from the week before to the week after the first Sunday in September, with a crescendo of religious, cultural, and recreational activities. The amusement rides animate the park for about two weeks, while the highlight is the patronal weekend, which concludes with the traditional fireworks display.
Sunday is dedicated to the Fair in Festa, with stalls along the town's streets and Milanese cabaret shows. Monday, however, is the day of the historic Agro-Zootechnical Fair in Via Martiri di Belfiore: an exhibition of farm and courtyard animals that keeps alive the agricultural heritage of the area, once the agricultural heart of the Milanese plain.
With its religious celebrations, solemn procession, and numerous initiatives for families, the Festival of the Town is the time when Cornaredo comes together around its identity. A balance between the sacred and the secular, between an agricultural past and entertainment, which makes it one of the most cherished patronal festivals in the Milan area.
The 2026 edition of the Festival of the Town of Cornaredo will be held around the first Sunday in September, with a series of events from the week before to the week after. The program confirms the traditional format: Fair in Festa on Sunday, Agro-Zootechnical Fair on Monday, amusement rides in the park, and concluding fireworks. The precise dates will be confirmed by the Municipality in the weeks prior.
The patronal festival usually includes:
The Agro-Zootechnical Fair and the concluding fireworks display.
