A journey through the cultures, dances, and traditions of Asia at the Rimini Fair
The Festival of the East is one of the most surprising cultural events that enlivens the Rimini Fair, located at Via Emilia 155, in the heart of the Province of Rimini in Emilia-Romagna. For a couple of weekends, the vast space of the Rimini Expo Centre transforms into an authentic bridge between Italy and Asia: as soon as you cross the entrance, you find yourself immersed in a world of colors, scents, sounds, and gestures from Japan, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Korea, Tibet, Thailand, Mongolia, China, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and many other countries.
The strength of the festival lies in its immersive dimension. The pavilions are organized into themed areas dedicated to traditional costumes, martial arts, holistic disciplines, crafts, and Eastern cuisine. Alongside these are cultural, spiritual, and folkloric spaces where you can discover rites, symbols, and customs of the Asian continent. It's a rare opportunity, in a single visit, to experience dozens of different cultures without leaving Rimini.
The pulsating heart of the event is its live performances: dozens of exhibitions follow one another continuously on various stages, from opening to closing, changing multiple times a day. Artists in vibrant costumes bring traditional dances, music, ceremonies, and demonstrations to life, telling the soul of their countries of origin. Spectators can simply let themselves be carried away, moving from one stage to another throughout the day.
The Festival of the East is not just for watching; it's primarily for experiencing. The program offers numerous workshops and courses to get acquainted with ancient Eastern practices, from cuisine to martial arts, from traditional music to yoga, meditation, and calligraphy. These activities are suitable for everyone, designed to engage even those approaching these disciplines for the first time.
Thanks to the variety of offerings, the festival is a perfect destination for families: children are fascinated by the costumes, dances, and demonstrations, while adults can dedicate themselves to workshops, shopping in the craft markets, or discovering Asian flavors in the gastronomic areas. Its location at the Rimini Fair makes the event easily accessible and convenient to visit, even for those coming from outside the city.
The Festival of the East 2026 brought Asia back to the Rimini Fair, at Via Emilia 155, spread over two weekends at the end of January and beginning of February. The pavilions hosted themed areas on costumes, martial arts, holistic disciplines, crafts, and gastronomy, with dance performances and traditional ceremonies alternating non-stop on stage from opening to closing. Artists from Japan, India, China, Korea, Tibet, Thailand, and many other countries animated the days, alongside workshops on cooking, music, yoga, meditation, and calligraphy open to the public.
Dozens of traditional dance, music, and ceremony performances took place continuously on various stages, from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM, with artists in costume from Japan, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Korea, Tibet, Thailand, Mongolia, China, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and other nations.
