The gargati pasta takes centre stage in the Santo hamlet of Thiene
Every June, the hamlet of Santo di Thiene (province of Vicenza) gathers around its patron saint, Saint Anthony of Padua, with the parish festival also known as the Feast of the Gargati. An event that combines the religious dimension of the "Tredicina di Sant'Antonio" (Thirteen Days of Novena to Saint Anthony) with the popular village festival.
The specialty of the festival is gargati, fresh pasta typical of the Vicenza tradition, served with consiero (vegetable sauce) or ragù. The food stall, open every evening from 7 PM, also offers sausages, ribs, polenta, sandwiches with local soppressa (cured salami), beans, and French fries. Genuine and traditional cuisine, making the festival a delicious stop for lovers of local flavours.
The Tredicina di Sant'Antonio accompanies the festival days with evening celebrations, culminating in the Solemn Mass on June 13th, the Saint's day, with the opportunity to venerate the relic. Alongside religious services, the festival offers musical entertainment, a charity raffle, a funfair, and animation moments. The initiative is organised by the Parish of Saint Anthony in the Santo di Thiene hamlet.
The 2026 edition of the Festival of Saint Anthony and Feast of the Gargati takes place over two weekends: June 5-6-7 and June 12-13-14, at the Parish of Saint Anthony in the Santo di Thiene hamlet.
The "Tredicina di Sant'Antonio" precedes the festival days with evening celebrations; on June 13th, the Saint's feast day, a Solemn Mass will be held with the opportunity to venerate the relic. The food stall opens every evening from 7 PM with gargati and other specialties, alongside a charity raffle, funfair, and musical entertainment.
Thiene is reachable by car from the A31 Valdastico motorway (Thiene exit) and by train on the Vicenza–Schio line. The Santo hamlet is located north of the centre; the festival takes place at the Parish of Saint Anthony, in Via Don Angelo Zigliotto 4.
In June, around the feast day of Saint Anthony of Padua (June 13th). Food stall open every evening from 7 PM. Free admission.
