The July feast in the hamlet of Ballò, between Marian devotion and Venetian cuisine
The Festival of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the feast that, in mid-July, enlivens the hamlet of Ballò, in Mirano, province of Venice. It takes place in the parish area of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle and revolves around the devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whose liturgical feast day is July 16th.
The religious heart of the festival is the solemn Mass with the procession in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a moment cherished by the community of Ballò that also draws faithful from neighboring towns. The festival days unfold around this celebration, with the opportunity for a stroll through the hamlet's territory.
The food stand offers traditional home-style cooking from the Venetian hinterland: whipped cod, fried fish, gnocchi, bigoi in sauce, pasta with ragù, cheese, and polenta. The evenings are accompanied by music, in a village festival atmosphere that makes this event one of the most anticipated moments of the summer in Ballò. The event is organized by the Parish of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle.
For 2026 too, the hamlet of Ballò di Mirano will celebrate the Festival of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the parish area of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle. The precise dates have not yet been released: the event follows the liturgical feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16th.
As per tradition, the festival will feature the solemn Mass with the procession in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the food stand with home-style cooking from the Venetian hinterland—whipped cod, fried fish, gnocchi, and polenta—accompanied by evening music.
The detailed program and dates for the 2026 Festival of Our Lady of Mount Carmel of Ballò will be announced by the Parish of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle closer to the event. The usual format includes, around July 16th: solemn Mass with procession in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, evening food stand with traditional Venetian dishes (whipped cod, fried fish, gnocchi, polenta), and music.
