Private villas and palaces open their doors in the Gorizia area
There are villas and palaces that hold centuries of history but are usually closed to the public. The Festival of Historic Homes FVG, promoted by the regional section of the Association of Italian Historic Homes (ADSI), is the opportunity to cross those thresholds: for a spring weekend, private residences in Friuli Venezia Giulia open their gates and halls, welcoming visitors to places of rare beauty.
In the province of Gorizia, the festival involves some exceptional residences, including prestigious villas nestled in the landscape of the Isonzo and Collio regions. Tours are often guided directly by the owners, who recount the history of the families, furnishings, and gardens, offering an intimate and authentic experience, very different from that of a traditional museum.
In addition to tours, the program includes tastings of local products — it's no coincidence that this is the heart of the Collio, a land of great wines — and cultural and musical events set in the historic spaces. A way to experience the homes not as places of the past, but as spaces that are still alive and capable of evoking emotion.
The festival also serves to raise awareness: opening the homes means telling the story of the work of those who preserve and pass them down, often with great sacrifice. For this reason, access is by free donation, a small contribution that supports the protection of a precious and fragile heritage.
The spring 2026 edition of the Festival of Historic Homes FVG takes place on April 25 and 26, with the opening of private residences throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia. In the Gorizia area, three homes are involved — including Villa Attems in Lucinico, Villa del Torre in Romans d'Isonzo, and Villa Marchese de' Fabris in Begliano di San Canzian d'Isonzo — with guided tours by the owners, tastings, and cultural and musical events.
At the homes: guided tours with the owners, tastings of local products, cultural and musical events in the historic spaces.
Opening hours and access details for each home will be published on the website festdsfvg.it.
