A bridge between Oltrepò and Argentina

In the hilly village of Montecalvo Versiggia, in the Province of Pavia, the Festival of Argentina is much more than a celebration: it is a day of solidarity that links the Oltrepò Pavese to a mission in Argentina. The initiative stems from the connection with Don Beniamino Riccardi, a priest who worked for a long time in the Argentine mission and remains close to the Montecalvo community with visits and meetings.

A day of celebration and fundraising

All proceeds from the activities are donated to the mission in Argentina. The festival takes place on the parsonage square and offers a rich program that intertwines religious moments, music, and conviviality, involving the entire community of the village in a spirit of generosity.

Music, traditions, and workshops

The day opens in the morning with Holy Mass, followed by a concert by the 'Città di Stradella' Musical Academy. At noon, pizza for everyone kicks off the convivial part, while throughout the day numerous side events are active: the artisan market with master luthiers and a master basket maker, workshops for children, and a charity raffle, in a program that also highlights local artisan traditions.

A community celebration

Organized by the community of Montecalvo Versiggia with the Municipality and the parish, the Festival of Argentina is the expression of a village that makes solidarity a shared value. Amidst the vine-covered hills of Oltrepò, it is an opportunity to experience the authenticity of a village where faith, music, and generosity meet.
