Concerts on the Altopiano delle Rocche in Rocca di Mezzo
Festiv'Alba is one of the most beloved cultural festivals in the Abruzzo hinterland, promoted by the Harmonia Novissima ETS association under the artistic direction of Massimo Coccia. Every summer, the festival takes place in various locations, spanning the archaeological site of Alba Fucens, the historic churches of the Marsica region, and the villages of the Altopiano delle Rocche, in the province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo. In Rocca di Mezzo, a town situated at an altitude of over 1,300 metres in the Sirente-Velino Regional Park, the festival dedicates a series of concerts immersed in the nature and heritage of the village.
The events in Rocca di Mezzo are held in two evocative settings: Villa Cidonio, an elegant historic residence surrounded by greenery, and the church of Santa Maria in Vico, an intimate space ideal for chamber music. The programme in Rocca di Mezzo is part of the concerts on the Altopiano delle Rocche section, which offers free admission and is designed to introduce residents, holidaymakers, and tourists to high-quality music in a setting of great scenic beauty.
Festiv'Alba combines early music performed in the Romanesque abbeys of the Marsica with major evening events in the Roman amphitheatre of Alba Fucens, as well as open-air concerts and performances in the churches of the plateau's villages. It is a formula that enhances the Abruzzo mountain landscape, historic churches, and archaeological sites, attracting enthusiasts of classical music, jazz, and folk traditions. The full programme includes dozens of events between late June and the second half of August.
With its widespread vocation and choice of locations rich in history and nature, Festiv'Alba has become a hallmark event for Rocca di Mezzo and the entire Altopiano delle Rocche, bringing high-level music to one of the most fascinating territories in the province of L'Aquila.
For the tenth edition of Festiv'Alba, the Harmonia Novissima festival (29 June โ 22 August 2026) brings two free concerts to Rocca di Mezzo (AQ) as part of the section dedicated to the Altopiano delle Rocche, featuring jazz and chamber music.
Both events offer free admission and are part of the wider 2026 programme, which includes major events in the Roman amphitheatre of Alba Fucens, early music concerts in the abbeys of the Marsica, and performances in the villages of the plateau.
The Festiv'Alba concerts in Rocca di Mezzo (AQ) are held at Villa Cidonio and in the church of Santa Maria in Vico, in the town centre, on the Altopiano delle Rocche.
