The summer celebrations for the patron saint San Giorgio in the village of the bagpipe
Scapoli (province of Isernia), famous as the international capital of the bagpipe, honours San Giorgio Martire as its patron saint, whose statue is kept in the village. Alongside the worship of the patron saint, the community is also devoted to Sant'Antonio da Padova.
Although San Giorgio's liturgical feast day falls in spring, the major patron saint celebrations are concentrated in mid-August, a time when the village becomes lively again with the return of emigrants. Traditionally, on August 11th and 12th, the village celebrates both San Giorgio Martire and Sant'Antonio da Padova together, with religious services, a procession, and popular festivities.
The patron saint festival is the moment of the year when Scapoli comes together: an occasion for faith and socialising that intertwines religious tradition and village life, in the heart of the upper Volturno valley. The organisation is handled by the parish with the support of the Municipality.
In 2026 too, Scapoli celebrates its summer patron saint festivities, traditionally on August 11th and 12th, in honour of San Giorgio Martire and Sant'Antonio da Padova. The festival includes religious services, the procession, and the popular festivities that liven up the village during the Ferragosto period.
The definitive dates and the complete program will be announced by the parish and the Municipality closer to the event.
The dates and detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the organisers in the preceding weeks.
