The patrons of Opera

Saints Peter and Paul are the patrons of Opera, a Municipality in the Metropolitan City of Milan located south of the Lombard capital. Their feast day, set by Catholic tradition for June 29th, is the occasion for the town's patronal festival, organised by the Municipality of Opera and experienced as one of the most heartfelt moments of the local summer.

A day of celebration for the whole community

The festival is concentrated on a single day at the end of June and transforms the area around the municipal headquarters, in Via Dante Alighieri, into a lively space from morning till evening. The programme intertwines the popular dimension of the market fair with the convivial and entertainment aspects, in a balance typical of the patronal festivals of the Bassa Milanese.

Fair, games and risotto

Throughout the day, the streets host a market fair with stalls from local hobbyists, artists and associations, accompanied by rides and games for the little ones and a second-hand and reuse market. The central moment is the risottata, the community lunch open to all that recalls the Lombard gastronomic tradition of risotto.

Music takes centre stage

Musical entertainment accompanies the entire day: from tributes to famous bands - like the one dedicated to ABBA - to performances by young talents like Simone Grande, winner of a season of The Voice Kids, up to the traditional band concert. A festival that combines devotion to the patron saints and the desire to be together, confirming Opera's role as a vibrant community in the Milanese metropolitan area.
