When summer arrives, in San Donato Milanese, cinema leaves the theaters and is enjoyed outdoors. Cinema sotto le stelle is the festival that every year, from late June to mid-August, enlivens the garden of the Simona Orlandi Central Library, at via Martiri di Cefalonia 51, transforming it into an open-air cinema arena. An now-usual event of the city's summer, in the province of Milan.

Twice a week

Screenings are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 9:30 PM. The garden gate opens half an hour earlier, giving the audience time to settle in under the stars. The program is designed to cater to different tastes: comedies, dramas, and animated titles suitable for families alternate throughout the summer weeks, in a schedule that accompanies the residents of San Donato from late June to the first days of August.

Free, until seats run out

The beauty of Cinema sotto le stelle is that it is free: entry is open to all screenings, until all available seats are filled. It's a simple and popular way to spend summer evenings, gathering outdoors to watch a film together, in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

Municipality and Progetto Lumiere

The festival is the result of collaboration between the Municipality of San Donato Milanese and Progetto Lumiere, the entity that manages the city's film programming. In case of bad weather, screenings are not cancelled: they move indoors to Screening Room 1 of the Multisala Troisi, ensuring the cinema event continues even when the stars hide.
