Three days of patronal festival, food fair and music in the hamlet of Villa Sant'Antonio in Ascoli Piceno
Every early June, the hamlet of Villa Sant'Antonio, in the municipality of Ascoli Piceno, gathers around its patron saint for the traditional Festa di Sant'Antonio di Padova. For three days, the community experiences a blend of faith, conviviality, and fun that draws residents and visitors from all over the Piceno region, in southern Marche.
The festival is rooted in the popular devotion to Saint Anthony of Padua, one of the most beloved figures in Italian Catholic tradition. Alongside the religious program, with liturgical celebrations dedicated to the saint, a rich calendar of civil initiatives unfolds, animating the hamlet's spaces until late evening. It is a village festival in the truest sense: an occasion for meeting, for generations to reconnect, and for celebrating local identity.
The signature dish of the festival is the Sagra degli Gnocchetti al castrato, a specialty that combines fresh pasta with the robust flavor of mutton, following a recipe rooted in the peasant cuisine of the Ascoli area. The food stalls also offer other local specialties, accompanying the evenings with the typical hospitality of Marche food fairs.
The evenings are marked by live concerts and shows, with performances by local bands and cover bands ranging from light music to great Italian hits. Among the groups announced for the edition are I sogni appesi - Ultimo cover band, Blu Night, I Soci, and Macchiati Band. There are also games and activities designed for children, making the festival suitable for the whole family.
Included in the vibrant summer calendar of the province of Ascoli Piceno, the Festa di Sant'Antonio di Padova in Villa Sant'Antonio offers an opportunity to discover an authentic hamlet and its community, just a few kilometers from the renowned historic center of Ascoli with its travertine piazzas. A sober and genuine event, where religious and gastronomic traditions merge in the convivial spirit that characterizes Marche village festivals.
