About Battiti di Rame

In Force, the village of master coppersmiths in the Sibillini Mountains, the Festival dell'Appennino presents "Battiti di Rame con i Pupazzi": a day that combines a panoramic nature excursion, local gastronomy, the evening opening of the village museums, and an open-air concert. A free and inclusive event, designed to discover the province of Ascoli Piceno and its ancient artisan soul tied to copper working at a slow pace.

A day in the Piceno Apennines, between nature and copper tradition

Battiti di Rame con i Pupazzi is the stage that the Festival dell'Appennino dedicates to Force, a small municipality in the Province of Ascoli Piceno, in the Marche region, nestled among the hills of the central Apennines near the Sibillini Mountains. The event, initially scheduled for May 10, 2026, has been postponed to Saturday, June 13, 2026, due to adverse weather conditions.

Force, the village of the coppersmiths

Force is known as the "village of the coppersmiths": here, the artistic working of copper is an ancient and still living tradition. According to a statistic from 1892, there were as many as 28 coppersmith workshops with 66 workers in the village, and their products โ€” cauldrons, pumps, containers for cooked wine โ€” were appreciated and sold at fairs throughout Central Italy. Today, this heritage is preserved in the Museo dei Ramai (Coppersmiths' Museum), set up between the former church of San Biagio and Palazzo Canestrari, which also houses the Museo Sistino di Arte Sacra (Sistine Museum of Sacred Art). It is this identity that inspires the title of the event, where the "beats" of the hammer on copper dialogue with the beats of the music.

What the stage offers

The day follows the typical formula of the Festival dell'Appennino, which combines walking, territory discovery, and entertainment:

  • A panoramic nature excursion along the trails around Force.
  • A moment of local gastronomy in the heart of the village.
  • The evening opening of the museums of Force: the Coppersmiths' Museum, the Sistine Museum of Sacred Art, and the nativity scene museum.
  • A concert with the group i Pupazzi, which concludes the evening.

The Festival dell'Appennino

The event in Force is part of the traveling review Festival dell'Appennino, promoted by BIM Tronto, which in 2026 crosses the central Apennines from May to October with dozens of events spread across numerous municipalities in Marche, Abruzzo, Lazio, and Umbria. The common thread is always the same: walking together to rediscover the villages of the hinterland, enhance their natural and cultural heritage, and support the territories affected by the 2016 earthquake. Admission to the events is free, with mandatory registration for the excursion.
