The Patrons of the Village
Polino is the least populous municipality in the province of Terni, a small mountain village overlooking the mountains of the Terni Valnerina. Every year, the town celebrates its two patron saints, Sant'Antonio da Padova and San Valentino Martire, with a festival that, as the local community itself recalls, represents "a moment of great cultural and religious value".
The Procession and the 'Canestre'
The heart of the festival is the procession to the hermitage of Sant'Antonio, accompanied by the traditional parade of 'canestre', the traditional baskets carried in procession that represent one of the most characteristic expressions of the area's popular religiosity. The Polino town band accompanies the highlights of the celebration.
A Festival for All Ages
Alongside the religious dimension, the festival offers moments of conviviality and fun: street food and local gastronomy, stalls with typical products from the Terni mountains, and, to close, the fireworks display. An event designed for all ages, which brings together the small community of Polino and visitors in one of the most authentic villages in southern Umbria.

For 2026, the Festa di Sant'Antonio da Padova e San Valentino Martire in Polino is expected in June, around the feast day of June 13th, on the closest weekend. The event will reprise its established program: the procession to the hermitage of Sant'Antonio, the parade of 'canestre', street food stalls and typical products, a fireworks display, and the performance of the Polino town band.

How to get there
Polino can be reached by car from Terni, driving up the Valnerina (SS209) and then along the mountain roads towards the Monti Martani. The nearest train station is Terni.
