The Patron Saint of Crema

Saint Pantaleon has been the patron saint of Crema and its diocese since 1361, and every year on June 10th, the city celebrates him with solemnity. A doctor and martyr, he is remembered as the "merciful doctor" who came from afar, a figure of charity and healing who still speaks to the community of Crema today, in the province of Cremona.

The Pontifical Mass in the Cathedral

The heart of the festival is the solemn Mass celebrated in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, led by the "Francesco Cavalli" polyphonic choir of the Duomo. At the end, the community gathers for the blessing with the saint's relic, a moment of intense participation that unites the faithful and city authorities.

Between Faith, Music, and History

The celebration is enriched by the choir's singing and the accompaniment of a wind orchestra, in an intertwining of liturgy and music that lends solemnity to the day. On the occasion of the festival, the crypt of the Duomo with the patron saint's relics is opened free of charge to visitors, offering an opportunity to discover a heritage of faith and history that is often little known.
