The fortified village of Crema celebrates its patron saints
Romanengo, in the Province of Cremona (Lombardy), is one of the most characteristic villages in the Lombardy plain, an ancient fortified center that still preserves traces of its defensive past. In the heart of the village stands the parish church of Saints John the Baptist and Blaise, on Via Vezzoli, dating back to the 14th century: a building that tells the long spiritual history of the community.
The patronal festival of Romanengo is dedicated to Saints John the Baptist and Blaise and is traditionally celebrated on the first Sunday of October. It is the most heartfelt moment of the year for the village, when the religious and community dimensions merge around the parish church and its heritage of faith and art.
As in many villages in the Crema area, the patronal festival is an occasion for the village to come together. The solemn mass in honor of the patron saints is the heart of the celebration, accompanied by moments of conviviality that mark the life of the community. The parish, part of the Diocese of Cremona, animates the celebrations and meetings.
Visiting Romanengo for the patronal festival means discovering a village with ancient charm, immersed in the countryside between Crema and Cremona. An opportunity to explore an authentic corner of Lombardy, far from the major tourist flows, and to experience a tradition that is renewed year after year.
In 2026, the patronal festival of Saints John the Baptist and Blaise returns to Romanengo on the first Sunday of October. The heart of the day is the solemn mass in the parish church, dating back to the 14th century, around which the community of the fortified village of the Crema area gathers.
The detailed schedule of times and events will be communicated by the parish in the days preceding the anniversary.
