The chestnut takes centre stage in Pantasina

The Festa della Castagna (Chestnut Festival) in Pantasina, a hamlet of the municipality of Vasia in the hinterland of Imperia, celebrates the fruit symbol of the Ligurian autumn. The event takes place in Piazza XI Febbraio and in the village, on a Sunday in October, and is part of the Eventi Autentici Liguri (Authentic Ligurian Events) calendar, co-financed by the Liguria Region, an award that recognises festivals capable of preserving the territory's identity.

Between walking and cycling

The day begins outdoors: in the morning, the autumn walk for families and the Panta Bike, an amateur cycling tour through the paths and roads of the hamlet, are scheduled. It's a way to discover the woods and landscapes of the Imperia hinterland at the height of the chestnut season.

Roasted chestnuts and celebration

In the afternoon, the festival comes alive with the distribution of roasted chestnuts and food stalls, accompanied by music. There are also moments designed for children, including workshops and activities. It's the classic village festival that brings residents and visitors together around the chestnut fire, in a simple and convivial atmosphere.

The hinterland of Imperia

Vasia and its hamlets are located in the hilly hinterland of Imperia, a land of olive trees, woods, and small villages. The Festa della Castagna is an opportunity to get away from the coast and discover a more hidden and authentic Liguria, where rural traditions remain a living part of the community.
