Cornaredo celebrates its patron saints

The Festa del Paese di SS. Giacomo e Filippo is the patronal festival of Cornaredo, in the Province of Milan. Dedicated to the two patron saints — St. James the Great and St. Philip — it is one of the most deeply rooted events in the religious and civil life of this municipality on the outskirts of the Lombard capital.

Weeks of celebration

The festival doesn't end in a single day: a series of events unfolds from the week before to the week after the first Sunday in September, with a crescendo of religious, cultural, and recreational activities. Fairground rides liven up the park for about two weeks, while the highlight is the patronal weekend, which concludes with the traditional fireworks.

The Fiera in Festa and the Fiera Agrozootecnica

Sunday is dedicated to the Fiera in Festa, with stalls along the town's streets and Milanese cabaret shows. Monday, however, is the day of the historic Fiera Agrozootecnica in Via Martiri di Belfiore: an exhibition of farmyard and livestock animals that keeps alive the rural memory of the area, once the agricultural heart of the Milanese plain.
